EXURBIA, ARCHITECTURAL LUMINAIRE FAMILY
A complete range of luminaires for decorative and architectural lighting applications, ranging from very compact downlights to high output track spots. SDA were responsible for developing the initial concept design through to supporting handover to production. The luminaire family incorporates various sizes of body, from a Ø54mm ceiling cut out to a Ø102mm cut out. The design concept was based around a modular construction allowing a wide variety of possible configurations; from square and circular bezel shapes to high and low luminous flux outputs with differing beam angles and mounting types.

Central to the design principle of the Exurbia range is the light engine. This component was conceived to provide a flexible system for both end user and manufacturer. Provided in 2 sizes to accommodate differing luminaire sizes and luminous flux outputs, the light engines feature a custom extruded heatsinks for passive thermal management of the LED and are coupled with a high efficiency chip on board LED. The concept of the light engines allowed the product family to evolve as the project progressed resulting in not only recessed downlights but also track mount adjustable spotlights, fully adjustable recessed downlights and ceiling suspended pendants.
