LUMENA STAR, HIGH PERFORMING LED FLOOD LIGHT
Building on the success of the original Lumena family of exterior flood lights, SDA worked with Trilux to re-imagine the product line utilising the latest in the white light LED technology. Maintaining the iconic aesthetic of the luminaire was critical to the project brief, however significant mechanical changes were required to allow the integration of a new light source as well as a new approach to optical control.

The Lumena Star 70 features a innovative passive thermal management design to ensure the high power LEDs are kept within their optimum operating temperature. The design features a chimney effect passage which allows air to flow directly behind the LEDs at the optimum point for cooling. This technical aspect was developed into an aesthetical feature of product reducing its visual impact on the Lumena design. The new luminaire design also featured an inventive optical system designed to reduce visual glare from direct viewing of the LED source. In conjunction with the custom reflector design, this feature resulted in an efficient and effective optical system for exterior lighting.
