How can we tackle the notion of “the race to the bottom” in the professional lighting industry; an ethos that too often results in the installation of inferior products and a depreciation in light quality? Our search for the answer to these questions inspired the development of the Lucid downlight. The application of creative and intelligent mechanical and optical design resulted in a product solution that not only provides high level visual comfort on illumination but also offers cost effectiveness, decreased assembly complexity and a reduced carbon footprint.

The patent-pending design of the Lucid downlight combines reflector, ceiling bezel, retention springs and mechanical fixing elements in one resource-efficient component: the unibody. The unibody can be moulded in different beam angles and colours whilst utilising only one injection mould tool, thereby saving on raw materials, costs, and the need for additional finishes. When combined with a metalised optical surface, the product offers reduced glare and low illuminance resulting in a lit performance that is not commonly yielded by such an affordable luminaire.
